Beauty contest breaking barriers of disability.

Fashion is slowly adopting a positive change towards including the needs of diverse society. The process is extremely sluggish for people with disability but Tokyo pageant celebrates the beauty of people with mental and physical disabilities made it a point that the fashion industry needs to turn up to be more inclusive.

The barriers confronted by people with mental and physical disabilities have been broken! Fashion enthusiast Mana Yokoyama, caught the eyes of many swaggered down the catwalk during a beauty pageant in Tokyo.

Special Beauty Japan is an annual event launched a year ago. The competitors are primarily are those with autism, Down Syndrome and other developmental difficulties. Age between 7 to 25.

Tokyo pageant beauty of people with mental and physical disabilities was a two-day event of 30 participators. This unique initiative in Japan empowered young people with mental and physical challenges gain a better perspective towards life.
