Big data breach happened in Uber

Around a year after the occurrence of the big data breach, an International media agency has exposed the big data breach happened in the world-renowned taxi aggregator.

As per the report, the top officials such as former chief executive Travis Kalanick had knowledge about the huge data breach occurred in the organisation.

It is suspected that the officials colluded to conceal the information from the public eye, particularly from the media houses.

Nearly fifty-seven million customers and divers were directly affected by the data breach, which was happened due to the mismanagement of information or data.

The hackers clandestinely obtained the mobile numbers, names and email addresses stored in the Uber database.

Among that lost information, over six lakh people were the drivers working in the organisation.

In order to delete the leaked data, the company, as per the report, even paid a huge amount of one lakh US dollars as ransom to the hackers.

A senior official working in the organisation has indirectly acknowledged that some kind of breach occurred in last year.

He has claimed that the organisation is closely monitoring those accounts which suffered the attack.

Earlier, in the year 2014, the company had been punished for failing to inform a data breach.
