China temporarily blocks India’s effort to put JeM leader in the list of designated terrorist

The United Nations Security Council meets to discuss imposing new sanctions on North Korea, in New York

China has temporarily blocked the Indian authorities’ effort to put Jaish-e-Mohammad leader Masood Azhar, who allegedly masterminded the most terrific attack against the Indian security forces, in the list of designated terrorist.

Disrespectfully, China has not even bothered to explain why they have put a hold on listing JeM leader.

The proposal seeking listing JeM leader as a designated terrorist was originally presented before the United States Security Council with the support of the three prime western powers –the US, the UK and France.

The hold can be in place for at least three months. After that period, it can even be extended.

This is not the first time that China has blocked the effort to pass a proposal demanding the listing of JeM leader.

Every time, China has done that at the behest of its all-weather friend Pakistan, in which the terrorist lives allegedly under the protection of Inter Services Intelligence –the spy agency of Pakistan.

India has expressed its dissatisfaction over China’s move. It is of the opinion that the latest development will run contrary to the west and China’s effort to bring stability in the region.

What China has done is not unexpected. What brings hope and happiness to India is that it has managed to convince most UNSC members that there is merit in its request.
