Court disqualifies ‘Australian Deputy PM’

Pushing irresponsibly the Australian government into the disappointing state of an extreme political instability, the Australian court has disqualified Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce.

The Australian constitution prohibits those having dual citizenship from contesting the country’s election.

The court has found that when Mr Joyce was contesting the election, he was holding a dual citizenship (this is the citizenship of Australia and New Zealand).

The court has shown no interest to consider whether the Deputy PM has renounced his citizenship or not.

Anyway, as per the reports appeared in the global media houses, he renounced the New Zealand citizenship in August.

Apart from Mr Joyce, other four MPs -Fiona Nash, Malcolm Roberts, Larissa Waters and Scott Ludlam- have also been disqualified by the court.

However, there is no restriction for Mr Joyce to contest in the re-election, which is likely to happen soon.

While speaking to the media personals, Mr Joyce has said that he respects the court verdict.

A source, close to the minister, has hinted that Mr Joyce would be the party’s candidate in the re-election.

The verdict has a huge impact on Australian PM Malcolm Turnbull’s regime, which has only 76 supporters in the 150-member House of Representative.

If Mr Joyce is defeated in the re-election, his party will lose the majority.
