Despite mounting tensions, SK extents an humanitarian hand to NK

Despite mounting tensions in the Korean peninsula, the South Korean regime, which is technically in a state of war with the North Korean regime, has approved a plan to extend a humanitarian assistance worth millions of dollars to its neighbour.

The humanitarian aid worth eight million dollars has been allotted to help the NK children, who are suffering severe malnutrition and need immunisation, and the pregnant women and lactating women, who need health supplements and medicines.

Since the last two years, due to its own provocative actions such as the aggressive missile and nuclear weapon tests, the communist country has been facing severe economic sanctions from the West as well as the South Korea regime, which is a prime ally of the US and European countries.

Giving an indirect message to the world that the ailing NK children are not the people who must be paying for the mistakes done by the NK adults, a South Korean senior minister, while speaking to the media personals, has asserted that his government want to help some NK people.

The aid will be distributed through some credible distribution channels. The UNICEF is one of the credible distribution channels currently present in the unfriendly country.

A senior UNICEF has said that the UNSC and the sanction committee also share the same opinion on the issue as that of the South Korean administration so there is a clear exception for the humanitarian aid.
