England master over Bangladesh in opening match : ICC CHAMPIONS TROPHY 2017


After putting up a competitive total on board, Bangladesh failed to restrict the host. Bangladesh managed to score 305 runs in 50 overs loosing 6 wickets. Opening batsman Tamim Iqbal who scored 128 with 12 fours and 3 sixes built up a massive partnership of 166 with Mushfiqur Rahim before he got out to short of a length delivery by Plunkett. The very next ball, back of a length delivery saw Mushfiqur Rahim walk back to the pavilion. With 32 balls remaining Bangladesh only managed 44 runs in the depth overs finishing at 305 for 6 wickets in 50 overs.

England thou had a early set back by loosing Jason Roy in 3 over, the chase was comfortably won by the host with a blistering performance by Joe Root accompanied by two steady partnerships with Hales and Morgan . Joe Root who Outclassed the innings by Tamim Iqbal made wonderful 133 of 129 balls stood not out at crease with Eion Morgan who played a captains knock to score 75 runs of 61 balls. Opener Alexander hales too played a great knock but unfortunately missed out on a century by 5 runs after he slog swept one to mid-wicket. Joe Root was named Man of the Match for his magnificent 133*.
