EU plans to offer more protection to whistleblowers

No one loves those who point their fingers at his/her wrongs. That is why whistleblowers are not appreciated or encouraged often. In fact, the duty of whistleblowers is to blow their whistle when even they confront mistakes.

Europe is at present the safest place for whistleblowers. Anyway, to take the safety index to its peak, the European Union is planning to introduce a new law to provide protection to whistleblowers.

Already, there are several provisions in the continent – both in the individual nation-state level and in the multi-lateral level – to ensure the protection of whistleblowers.

The new law is likely to make the present provisions to protest whistleblowers even more powerful, efficient and effective.

Whistleblowers deserve protection. Actually, it is the duty of society to protect whistleblowers. Any system that fears whistleblowers and is eager to supper this democratic element is not good for the health of democracy.

It is advised that all democratic systems should encourage whistleblowers and make adequate provision for their protection and free functioning.

What the European Union has shown is an impressive precedent. It is hoped that in the near future many other democratic systems like the EU will adopt similar measures for whistleblowers.

Let’s encourage Democratic Activism!!!
