Federer clinches his 8th Wimbledon title in a dominated final

Roger Federer claimed his 8th Wimbledon singles title defeating Marin Cilic with a dominant 6 – 3 6 – 1 6 – 4 victory. Federer who has had a pretty slow run from past years claimed his first Wimbledon title in five years without losing a set.  He had been consecutively defeated by Novak in 2014 and 2015. But the will for a come back was still in him ensuring him home by a pretty high standard performance this year.

Federer after the win was quoted as saying “ I wasn’t sure if I was ever going to be here again in another final last year. Ive had some tough ones here, losing to Novak in 2014 and 12015. But I always believed that maybe I could come back and do it again. And if you believe, you can go really far in your life. I know I did that and I really kept believing and dreaming and here I am today with the eighth, its just fantastic.”

On the other hand Cilic, who is known was his big hitting, had a pretty hard time on court. He was definitely pretty overwhelmed by the fact that we was going to play his first major final on the grass but seemed to be struggling to move around due to injury.
