French supremo likely to mediate Saudi-Lebanese crisis

The new developments indicate that the French president, Emmanuel Macron, is likely to mediate the Saudi-Lebanese political crisis.

Projecting himself to the level of a global political figure, the French supremo has landed in Saudi Arabia for a surprise visit to find a solution to the Lebanese political crisis, which recently reached its peak with the resignation of Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri, who is the best man of the Sunni faction led by Saudi.

It is clear that Lebanon and Yemen are facing the heat of the decades-old Saudi-Iran rivalry or, in a different sense, the centuries-old Sunni-Shia rivalry.

Recently, while announcing his resignation, Mr Hariri claimed that his life is under serious threat. He further accused Iran and his prime political opponent, Hezbollah, of creating such a political instability.

It is to be noted that Iran and Hezbollah denounced all the allegations raised by Mr Hariri during his resignation and asserted that the Saudi kingdom orchestrated aimed at some political gains.

Anyway, the French leader, who has admitted that he has made an informal talk with the resigned Lebanese leader, has asserted that no political power would be allowed to create instability in Lebanon.

He is also likely to discuss the latest Yemen crisis, which was created after the implementation of Saudi blockade, with the kingdom’s crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman.
