Gulf nations cut ties with Qatar

Doha-1_tcm233-2375044Four gulf nations, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain and UAE cut ties with Qatar. Qatar has been accused to have link with terrorist organization and its development. The combined move by the 4 nations escalates the dispute of Qatar’s involvement in the funding and supporting Muslim Brotherhod, which is the worlds oldest Islamist movement. It is also accused to have ties with the GCC arch rivals Iran.

Qatar owned satellite Channel is said to promote the extremist ideology and propagandas. The four nations have suspended all the economic ties as well as political ties with Qatar. The Qatari expats and Qatari travellers in these four nations have been advised to leave immediately. Abu Dhabi owned Etihad has taken the decision to suspended all its flights to Doha.

“Qatar embraces multiple terrorist and sectarian groups aimed at disturbing stability in the region, including the Muslim Brotherhood, ISIS, and Al- Qaeda and promotes the message and schemes of these groups through their media constantly.” The Saudi state news agency SPA said.

With this there are serious threat to Qatar’s future plan of hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The suspension and blockage of the Land and Air space to Qatar can create a havoc in the preparations of the nation for the world cup. It is also a barrier to US as Qatar serves as a large US military base.

While the surrounding regions cut their ties with the nation, the top ambassadors of other nations ask them to clear their differences and to unite against terrorism.
