India storms in Semi Finals : ICC CHAMPIONS TROPHY 2017

When you do everything right, there is very minimal chance that you loose. That is what exactly India did. Right from the toss everything went in India’s way. Having choose to bowl first, Indian bowlers looked right on mark first up. The duo, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah restricted the proteas opener Quinton de Kock and Hashim Amla to get on top of their attack. But it was the spin Duo Jadeja and Ashwin who gave India the first two break ap6-11-2017-000214b_02c65906-4ec8-11e7-942b-1b07039b2a8cthrough. It was Amla first to Ashwin who had made 35 from 54 balls and then Q de Kock who got out after a steady 53 of 72 balls to Jadeja. Faf du Plesis, even thou scored a hefty 36 of 50 balls unfortunately wa involved in two run-outs. First AB De Villiers for 16 and then Miller for just 1. South Africa had been 140 – 2 at one stage but went on to lose the rest 8 wickets with just 51 more runs on board. Indian bowlers were in the top of their form and even the fielding was exceptional. Bumah and Kumar took 2 wickets each, while the rest of the three – Ashwin, Jadeja and Pandya taking 1 each. They restricted the proteas at 191 in just 44.3 overs.

On the other hand, it was yet again Shikhar Dhawan’s day out. There is something between him and the icc events. He was seen again scoring a well deserved half century. Dhawan along with Virat Kohli took India almost close to win before he got out for 78 of 83 balls which included 12 fours and 1 six. Kohli played the captains knock and made sure India was well placed in the chase. It was Yuvraj who finished off the proceeding in style with a six. Kohli stood not-out on 76 and Yuvraj at 23.

The defending champions would face Bangladesh in the semi final now. There are high hopes of qualifying into finals as India had trashed the former in the warm up match. But having seen their recent performance, Indian team would be alerted about their capabilities and would do their homework once again.
