Italian populist leaders propose tax cuts

Clearly indicating the direction towards which the powerful populist parties of the Italy want to take one of the biggest economies of the European continent, some Italian populist leaders, while speaking to the media personals, have pledged huge tax cuts.

Publicising his ambitious tax cut plans, populist leader Matteo Salvini has indirectly stated he would stand firmly against the European Unions’ interference in the country’s internal affairs, including economic and political affairs.

Unsurprisingly, Luigi Di Maio, the leader of the famous Five Star Movement, has responded in a similar way.

There are reports that the populist parties might get the chance to lead the government if they show willingness to confront the concerns of other centre-rights parties who performed well in the Sunday’s elections.

At this moment, it is not clear whether the centre-rightist parties show willingness to support the populist parties.

In the Sunday’s general elections, the populist parties have performed far better than other political parties in the country, in line with the trend prevailing in the Europe at this juncture.

Anyway, what is being heard from the Italian political hemisphere is certainly not pleasing for the European leaders who fear the new trend of raising populism across the world.
