Malta: around ten arrested in connection with investigative journalist’s murder

Nearly ten people -all of them the nationals of Malta- have been detained by the country’s police force in connection with the murder case of renowned investigative journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, who was a fearless critic of the Prime Minister Joseph Musca led government.

She was brutally murdered nearly two months before in a car bomb attack. Immediately after the attack, several people who are close to the journalist raised serious allegations against the government, against which the murdered journalist had written several provocative stories exposing the corrupt practices followed by the some people who are in the top of the government.

The relatives did not even allow the members of the government to participate in the funeral ceremony, in which several International journalists, writers, intellectuals and human rights activists participated.

Meanwhile, the surprising fact is that the new progress of the investigation has been officially publicised by the same person, the PM, who has been standing under the strong spotlight of suspicion since the murder of the journo.

Anyway, Mr Musca, who even called in the international investigative agencies like FBI, has claimed that he know who is behind the act, though he has shown reluctance to disclose more details.
