O.J Simpson set to hear parole on July 20

The former American football legend, O.J Simpson would be looking forward to be a free man once again after 9 long years. The decision of his release would be taken on July 20 by the Nevada Board of Parole. This could be his final hearing and if paroled he would be out of the jail by October.

He was sentenced to serve 33 years in prison at Lovelock Correctional facility, in Nevada. He was accused of Kidnapping, armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon as the he tried to steal the pieces of Simpson sports memorabilia at gunpoint. He had 3 hearing after he was sentenced and all the three time he pleaded to commissioner for a release and argued that he was only trying to get back the things that were once stolen from him. He also argued over the fact that they were not carrying any weapon. He was sentenced to 33 years in prison with an eligibility for parol hearing after 9 years.

O.J Simpsons is no stranger to legal proceedings. He was acquitted of murdering his ex wife Nicole Brown in 1995.

The Nevada Board of Parole would look into several factors before deciding where to release Simpson or not. He has been a model prisoner and has accepted the responsibility for his actions. His age too is in his favour. In short according Dan Hill, Nevada defence attorney, Simpson profile fits perfectly of an inmate who would receive parole at the first opportunity.

“My Crime was trying to retrieve for my own property that was stolen from me. I wish I had never gone to that room. I wish I had just said keep it and not worry about it” he was quoted while pleading with the parole commissioners at a hearing held in 2013.
