Putin officially sworn in as Russian President for a fourth term

What is it like being in the top of one of the most powerful countries in the world for nearly twenty five years? This question can be asked to the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, when he completes the present term as the leader into which he has been officially entered today.

Mr Putin has been in power in Russian either as President or Prime Minister for nearly eighteen long years. He is the first elected President of the country.

In the recent election, Mr Putin secured an astounding victory as there were no concrete opponents in the election; the Russian leader never tolerates dissent and he always makes sure that no powerful candidate stands against him in the elections.

The official inauguration ceremony has taken place at the Kremlin hall. As many as five thousand invitees have attended the event.

The event has been telecasted live in the Russian government run television channels. Undoubtedly, it is the most colourful ceremony the country has ever witnessed.

Meanwhile, several marches have taken place across the country, particularly in all prominent cities, against the Russian President’s inauguration ceremony. Many protesters have likened the President with the erstwhile Russian emperors.

Will Mr Putin find a successor in this term?
