Putin reaches India, triggering tensions in Indo-US relation

The Russian President, Vladimir Putin, has reached the world largest democratic country Today, creating tension in the Indo-US relation.

During this visit, Russia is expected to sign several crucial military deals worth over $19 billion with India, especially the deals regarding the sale of Russian weapons. Actually, it is what that irritates the United States.

Recently, the US imposed sanctions over China for the communist country’s move to purchase military equipments from Russia.

The Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions act empowers the US government to impose sanctions on any country which purchases weapons from Iran, North Korea and Russia.

If the US chooses to move ahead with the law, India will have to pay a huge price for the deal which is going to be signed by the country with Russia.

There are reports that India has been trying to pursue the US to grand a sanction waiver for last few months. There is no clear information whether the US has agreed to grand any such waiver to India on this matter.

The Indian government and their Russian counterparts have not responded to the warnings issued by the United States. It seems both are very busy with the arrangements of the crucial India-Russia summit, which is expected help India reinstate its prominence in the region.

Should we pay heed to the US’ indirect threats or pressure tactics?
