Romanian supremo rejects PSD’s PM-Nominee

Rejecting the Social Democrats’ Prime Minister Nominee, Sevil Shhaideh, the Romanian President, Klaus Iohannis, directed the left-of-centre party to make a new bid. Reacting loudly to the undemocratic and unconstitutional move, the PSD leader, Liviu Dragnea, claimed that they would initiate a move to impeach the President. Pointing out that the supremo held no constitutional right to implement such a move, the PSD chief alleged that the Romanian President was trying to create a political crisis. Admitting that he requested the PSD to make a new proposal, Iohannis strongly defended his move saying he analysed all reasons and arguments carefully before taking the decision to reject the PSD’s proposal. Some political observers and experts analysed that Sevil Shhaideh’s husband was a Syrian origin person. Her husband might have contributed a negative point to her Prime Ministerial bid, they opined. Recently, some investigative journalist identified that her Syrian husband posted some pro-Syrian comments on his social media page. Meanwhile, some political experts observed that she lacked the political experience and administrative skills. She, if inducted, might have been a puppet leader under the PSD leader Dragnea, who was her close friend and was forced to pull back his Prime Ministerial bid following the controversial court order in which he got a two-year suspended sentence for fraud. Earlier, in the general election held early this month, the PSD marked an astounding victory securing nearly forty-five per cent vote. During the election campaign, the PSD offered numerous pro-poor schemes like the tax waivers and pension hike.      Sevil Shhaideh would have been the first Muslim as well as female Prime Minister of the country.
