A Russian court has awarded a stiffer sentence of fourteen years imprisonment for a Norwegian guard who was arrested over the charges of spying.

The punished has denied the charges registered against him. But, the court has found no reason to believe his denial.

The convict’s lawyer has informed the media personalities that his client would not appeal against the verdict but would request pardon from Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The prime charge against the convict is that he has shared some sensitive details regarding the Russian naval force with the Norwegian Intelligence agency.

The convict has admitted that he has worked closely with his country’s intelligence agency. Meanwhile, he has defended his position by saying that he has not done anything wrong against any Russian agencies.

There are reports that the Norwegian previously worked sincerely to increase the relation between Russia and Norway.

The chances are high for him to get the benefit of pardon. But, it cannot be said with compete assertion.

Norway is the member of North Atlantic Trade Organisation. The NATO is originally created to contain the threat posed by the present Russia’s predecessor Soviet Union. Russia is now the prime rival of this organisation.

Until the Russia’s annexation of Crimea, Norway and Russia had no serious issues, though there were in two different power blocks.

Both countries share a common border. None of them may try to irritate each other for that reason.
