Russia Supremo Putin to participate in ‘Next Year’s Election’

Indirectly acknowledging the fact that the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, has no interest in giving up his powers to any other person, the supremo has publically expressed his interest in participating in the next year election.

If Mr Putin wins the election, he will get the chance to rule the country until 2024. Mr Putin has been sitting in the top position either as President or as Prime Minister in Russia for last seventeen years.

In these years, he has systematically eliminated all his opponents and nourished those who are close to his regime and are loyal to him.

He has even attacked his political opponents mercilessly using the power the people has placed on his hand.

Literally, there is no opposition in the country at this moment. Alexei Navalny is the only powerful opposition leader, who has been campaigning against the regime fearlessly for last few years. Unfortunately, he has been barred from participating in the upcoming election over a political motivated case of embezzlement, in which he was found guilty by the judicial system indirectly controlled by the supremo.

So, Ksenia Sobchak, who is a less serious opponent compared to Mr Navalny, will be the only serious opponent the President will face in the election.

The opinion polls have already predicted the victory of Mr Putin. Undoubtedly, the oppressive politics the Russia leader now follows is a shame to the democratic values Moscow has been upholding since the fall of the erstwhile USSR.
