Trump finally rewrites his controversial migrant separation policy

Surrendering before the pressure exerted by the internal and external elements, the United States President, Donald Trump, has deleted the controversial provisions of his migrant policy which empowers the authorities to detain the children accompanying the adults caught for the illegal entry into the US through the US-Mexico border separately.

Earlier, shortly after the implementation of the controversial migrant separation policy, the Trump administration, which presented the policy as an important part of its zero tolerance against the process of illegal border crossing policy, invited strong flak. Several International organisations as well as local organisations came forward with serious criticism against the policy.

The correction the US president has made in the infamous policy is definitely the result of the severe pressure exerted over him by some powerful International as well as national elements.

Unfortunately, there are no clarifications in the revamped migration policy about the fate of those already in the US migrant children detention centres.

While announcing his policy, the US president has claimed that it was the images of the saddened face of the detained migrant children which prompted him to rethink about the policy. Meanwhile, he has asserted that his government would not forget its commitment towards its ‘zero tolerance towards illegal migration’ policy.

At present, at least two thousand migrant children are presently staying in the child migrant detention centres in the US. All these children should be immediately rejoined with their families, demands a human rights activist.

Does Trump really care about the migrant children?
