Warsaw mayor blocks far-rightist rally

The mayor of Warsaw Hanna Grokiewicz-Waltz has declined to give permission to the far-rightist rally which is scheduled to happen in the city on coming Sunday.

The march is one of the biggest far-right rallies happen in the Europe. Each year tens of thousands of people gather in Warsaw to attend the rally. Even people from other regions of the continent reach here to attend the event every year. The rally is widely perceived as a gathering of European far-rightists.

The Polish government, which is led by the conservatives, are in support of the rally. The prime issue with the rally is that it is organised by the far-rightist National Radical Camp, and often, those take part in the rally chants anti-Semitic slogans.

There are reports that like the previous occasions this time also the government has failed to convince the organisers that they should not use provocative slogans and banners in the rally.

Anyway, the mayor has justified her action to deny permission to the rally saying that the government has failed to provide adequate security support necessary to secure the city prior to the rally.

Meanwhile, some far-rightists have announced that they would conduct the rally at any cost and the mayor’s action could not stop them.

Are the Europe’s Neo-Nazis set to mark a comeback?
